Magic! Are you ready for the greatest magic show you will ever see? Magic! has been around for quite some time. He has been predominantly railing for many years. He has sought to perfect his craft in the art of RailGun usage. 888 was kicking it on a Railz server with another player, Magic! shows up, and the other player vanishes...like magic. Magic! and 888 commence the 1:1 Railz match. This is a new player as far as 888 is concerned; therefore, he proceeds to test Magic!. 888's first 12 deaths from Magic! were predominantly test running to see where he has the greatest chance to win. It appears Magic! might be wall hacking, so 888 adjusts accordingly to defeat Magic! by another means. 888 tests Magic!'s ability to land a shot in the absence of walls (in the open), Magic! can land well enough where it is not worth going head to head with Magic! in the open. 888 doesn't feel like dancing around in the open, in a circle, for extended periods of time, looking to land a rail shot. I cannot say that I fully believe Magic! is running a modified aimbot, but if he is not, he has a good rail. 888 tests Magic!'s maneuverability and Magic! can move well enough where movement alone won't be leveraged against him. Again, Magic! has been doing this rail scene for many many years. Will the map provide support? Does the map provide coverage where 888 can use walls as a shield from Magic!'s fire? Unfortunately, this version of The Edge (q2dm1nc) is very wide open.
What to do? Well The Edge always has a tight lower corridor area that is often neglected when it comes to strategic battle. The design of it even gives wallers trouble reading it. It is a great area for combat. 888 uses it to his advantage to force Magic! to earn his rail. Even before 888 acquired all his Quake awards of Greatness, they would say "888 never gives up no matter what." 888 was taught by The Greats to NEVER quit no matter what it looks like. 888 has come back to win matches being down by 20. Good momentum in that sweet spot produces wins.
I suspect Magic! is a Top Railer at the moment. I know the TDMer Snowflake (aka space_stuff) claims to be the best railer. Well, 888 has played against both players, and leans towards Magic! potentially having the stronger Rail. With that being said, space_stuff send me your availability and I have no problem scheduling a match between you and Magic!. I anticipate it being good. I'm putting Beav up against Magic! as well. After the match, Magic! called 888 a dirty rat bastard and swore he would get 888 next time. This really happened! What? Were you expecting more? Dirty little minds. Come on people, this is a family website!!
Clearly, I have refrained a lot (concerning many obvious factors in these videos). So, you are just going to have to read between the lines - take what 888 has already taught you and apply it. Why? Perhaps it is because Magic! has a character and persona I prefer over the greater evil.
